MONDAY FITNESS MAKEOVER

I must confess that this year has been the hardest on me fitness and health wise.  I am usually able to get it together around February and lose the winter coat by about mid May.  This year I have not been able to get it together.  Last week as I sat in my office at work, I became very depressed about my weight, my fitness habits and my overall health.  I was doing nothing to help it!  I broke down into tears and decided this was it...It is time to change!

After all...

So I turned to Pinterest and my favorite fitness blogs to find some motivation and some answers.  I found the most amazing pin on How to Become a Morning Person.  I used to love to get up on the morning, but depression over my weight and everything else had made me want to just give up and sleep all the time.  I had no energy ever!  This pin reminded me of what habits I used to have to get more quality sleep and then be happy to wake in the morning.  It is a must read!

A good day starts with a good morning.  The Hubs has started going to the gym in the morning, so that means I am stuck at home with the Littles.  Morning is just about the only time we can guarantee exercise as our days are crazy.  I had to come up with something I could do first thing in the morning while I was at home.  I decided on some Morning Yoga to help me wake up and build muscle.  I found an excellent You Tube video and purchased a yoga mat.  This morning will be the start of my regimen.

I also plan to go to the gym or walk/run outside on my non-busy nights to get some cardio in at least four days a week.  The yoga will make sure I get some exercise in everyday and the walk/run will be extra.  I used to love to walk/run and actually miss doing it.  Why deprive my body and mind of something it loves?  Lets do this!

The next portion of my Fitness Makeover was to make sure I was eating the right things.  I headed to my girl Liz's blog at Fitness Blondie to see how she ate everyday.  I took some ideas from her and some others from Pinterest to come up with five solid meals/snacks everyday this week.  It made me feel good just writing it in my menu journal.

I took a trip to the grocery store to pick up the healthy goodies and the Hubs helped me prep everything so that it will be ready to grab when I am running out the door for work.  I had previously been grabbing not so smart snacks and things for breakfast, but now that everything is prepped and easy to access I will be sure to have a healthy eating day.

Yay!!

I purchased some new running shoes a while back and haven't even used them for running.  That is just sad!  They are just begging me to take them and hit the asphalt.  The Hubs and I also purchased each of us a Fit Bit Flex.  I love this little thing, it counts my steps and activity as well as so many other things.  It is waterproof and stylish as well.

I also have a neat new water bottle that makes it fun to hydrate during the day!  I am set.
I am ready to do this!  I turn 30 in two weeks and am wanting to bring it in with a bang.  Wish me luck and cheer me on.  The first two weeks are the hardest while I make this makeover a habit.  Thanks for all of your support.

  7. I so need to be better about organizing healthy snacks like that ahead of time. I do it sometimes and then forget the next week. You're so organized! I love it!

    1. Kelli, planning really does make the difference. I love all of the foods that are prepped for the week, but when they are hidden in the crisper of my fridge and have to be prepped in the minutes before I run out the door, I opt for unhealthy quick snacks. I am organized in most aspects of my life...why not with what I eat?! Thanks for leaving some love.

    1. Thanks Mary! Just writing the food that I eat in my journal or on MyFitnessPal makes me happy and keeps me accountable. I did Weight Watchers a while back (after the littles were born) and that was the basis which worked for me. This time it is FREE! I will let you know what yummy new recipes I find. Oh and Yoga is really no joke!
