MONDAY FITNESS MAKEOVER - Week No. 1 Down and August Goals

Week No. 1 of my Monday Fitness Makeover has come and gone!  I must admit that it was a rough week, but I made it through.  I can't say that the weekend was as successful, but I have a few ideas for next weekend that may make me feel a little more satisfied with my progress.

Monday was amazing!  I ate a ton of clean foods, did my first day of morning yoga, and went to the gym for the first time in a LONG time.  I swear they looked at me like I stole my membership when I checked in.  Ha!

I absolutely love the way I feel after doing all of this even after a week.  I have more energy, I feel good about myself and my decisions, I am less depressed and anxious than usual during this time of the month...I am happy!  

Yoga is no joke, I tell ya!  My thirty minutes of Morning Yoga makes me sweat more than a full hour of running on the elliptical.  It makes me feel strong and my muscles totally felt it in the days after.  This may be my new love.  I still love running on the elliptical and outside (when it isn't 100 degrees) though.  There is just something therapeutic about it.  I am alone with my thoughts, my breath and my playlist!  That is something that this Mommy hardly ever gets.  It is AMAZING!

I stuck to my weekly menu to the "T" except for Tuesday night where I splurged with some five star food that was totally free.  You can't pass that up anytime.  The Hubs and I went out with a vendor from his work to a place called Barrington's in Charlotte.  It was delicious and something I will probably never go to on my own budget, so we splurged.  Other than that, I was a trooper with my set meals and snacks.  They were delicious and I was not hungry at all!

I felt great and actually had the energy to want to go to the gym.  I remembered why I used to always eat right and never eat crap.  You really are what you eat.

These are some of my delicious menu choices for the week.  I have already made the menu for this week today and the Hubs and I prepped together.  We always make it fun.  It has become our Sunday routine and also a little QT with each other.  I found that being prepared for the week with snacks and meals made me stick to the set out menu.  Everything was right there ready for me and I didn't have to think about what to grab when I needed some fuel.  It was one less stress in my life.  

Most every time I have tried to "diet" or change my lifestyle it has become an obsession with food.  It was not fun to think all day everyday about the next meal and what I could and could not have.  This way I think once at the beginning of the week and I am done!

Now that Week No. 1 is behind me, I must keep going to make my makeover a habit.  Did you know it only takes 14 days to make a habit? Yep!  Only fourteen!!  With a new month ahead of us, I wanted to make some goals.  

Here are my August Fitness Goals:

* Visit the gym for 30 min 4 days a week
* Do morning yoga at least 3 days a week
* Continue to plan weekly healthy meals and snacks
* Only have one real cheat day per week
* Have a meal plan for the weekend and stick to it
* Exercise in some way at least one day per weekend

    1. Thanks for stopping by Jill! Way to go starting the week off right. It always makes a difference for me! I love the pool and to swim, but there are always little ones on me when I am in water, so it usually isn't my exercise of choice! Ha. Have a great day.

    I have missed my morning walks this summer.
    Have has several foot surgeries, plus healing time.

  5. Yep...I ate crap this weekend and felt horribly like crap. Like really bad! This is why I eat healthy though my family thinks I'm being too picky. Good job Tela! You're doing awesome!

    1. It is really no joke! We ate crap on Sunday and the Hubs and I swore that wouldn't happen again! We felt like absolute crap...and didn't do anything! Thanks so much!
