Miss Priss is my little princess and is obsessed with fashion and big big bows! I found it only appropriate to make her a especially large stacked bow to match her adorable new dress for her Strawberry Shortcake party this coming weekend! I am a bow novice, but with a little help from Mommy Crafts a Lot on You Tube, I was able to craft this DIY stacked bow.
The first step to this stacked bow is to make a seven inch classic boutique style bow. I found this tutorial through Mommy Crafts a Lot. I have made a ton of this style and have almost perfected this style. For this bow I used 1.5 inch ribbon.
The next layer of the bow is a five inch pinwheel style bow. This tutorial will show you how to make it step by step. This is easy peasy and super cute. For this bow, I used three pieces of 1.5 inch ribbon (yellow and white), two pieces of .5 inch pink and one piece of .5 inch multi striped ribbon.
Next, I made the surround a bow with my dollar strawberry ribbon from Michael's. This is probably the most simple bow of them all, but it is important to keep the measurements in proportion with your existing bows.
The last bow in the stack is another classic boutique style bow in 1 inch pink polka dot ribbon. This bow is only four inches in diameter. You will make this one exactly like you made the first bow in the stack.
Once all of the bows are made, you begin to stack! I put the bows in order with #1 on the very bottom and #4 on the top of the stack. I hot glued each layer together with a dab of glue in the center of each bow.
layer #2 on top of layer #1
layer #3 on top of #2 and #1
layer #4 on top of #3, #2 and #1
Once you have stacked the entire bow together with hot glue, you will need to secure it further to make sure it does not come apart and also secure it to your hairbow. I decided to use a small zip tie to do this. I simply wrapped the zip tie around the entire stack of bows as well as the hair bow and zipped it tightly closed. I then cut off the excess of the zip tie on the back of the stack.
Once everything was secure, I hot glued a small piece of the strawberry ribbon, that I had tied in a simple knot, around the zip tie to cover it and complete the bow.
