FIVE ON FRIDAY - A Daddy's Hands, A Daddy's Heart!

It is no secret that I am one big daddy's girl!  I always have been!  Mom has said he always wanted a little girl and thirteen years after my older brother was born he was given his heart's desire.  I am not sure he felt that way throughout my entire childhood, but he still acted as if I was his little princess.  In fact, he still does!

My favorite memories and qualities of my Daddy are:

ONE
(Gentle Hands and Hugs)

My daddy is and has always been a snuggler.  I remember when I was little and would get reoccurring swimmers ear infections, he would hold me in his lap while he sat in his recliner and would have me put my hurt ear on his warm chest.  He would sit there for hours rocking me and holding me.  It was always so comforting to know he would protect me and wanted so badly to take my pain away.

I would also always sit on the arm of that chair and watch WWE wrestling with him.  It was our nightly ritual!

TWO
(Bailing me out)

Throughout childhood my Daddy was always the one bailing me out. Mom had to be the hard one because Daddy never would be to me.  He was hard on my brothers, but I had him "wrapped around my little finger."  He was always the one to get me ungrounded, out of spankings and out of trouble with just about anyone that crossed my path.

Don't get me wrong I was not a trouble maker growing up, but I was always forgetting something or getting myself in a pickle.  In college he would frequently have to drive 45 minutes to the school at all hours of the day/night and bring me things I forgot.  This has continued into my adult years!  He has been known to come get me when I couldn't or shouldn't drive, picked up my children so I could stay longer at an event and has even still brought my forgotten items to wherever I may have been.  He never complained and never asked why, he was just always there.  My knight in shining armor!

THREE
(Financial and Emotional Support)

During my childhood I wanted for a lot of things (as all children do), but never needed for anything.  My Mom was able to stay at home with me while my Daddy was the primary bread winner.  He provided a roof over our heads, food on the table, clothes on our backs and all the extras I ever needed.  He taught me the value of money and that it cannot buy happiness.  Although we didn't struggle he wanted me to stay humble and become financially responsible.

Daddy was also always there for me when I was down or hard on myself.  He still is!  When I have a bad day and post a comment on Facebook, he is usually the first one to call me and want to talk.  I have an amazing emotionally supportive father and thank God for that!

FOUR
(Love for my Mother)

The way my Daddy looks at my Mom can send anyone into a love struck coma.  It has always been this way.  When he looks at her you can see them at sixteen again and just falling for each other.  He loves her with everything he has and would go to the ends of the earth for her.  He taught me that this is the way it is supposed to be.  This is the way a husband should look at his wife.  He taught me the qualities I should look for in a husband and he did a great job at it.  God sent me one that looks at me the same way my Daddy looks at my Mom.  Thank you Daddy for teaching me these things while also loving Mom unconditionally!

FIVE
(Best Papa Ever)

When I announced that I was pregnant with Little Man, who was the first grandchild, my Daddy was so surprised and excited.  The same excitement was in his eyes when my oldest brother announced that they would also be having a son.  Three grandsons and a granddaughter later he still loves all of them equally!
He is always giving them money, playing with them, giving kisses and hugs, teaching them to fish and drive a boat and all sorts of other things.  He is such a proud Papa and every one of his grandchildren love him for that.

Everyday I thank the Lord for sending my Daddy to this Earth to fall in love with my Mom and build a family that has me in it!  I am grateful for my Daddy's strong hands and loving heart that has kept me safe and secure my entire life.  Thank you Daddy for everything you have done for us!

Happy Father's Day!
