WEEKLY PINspirations - Week No. 1

Happy Monday!  It is not as happy as Friday, but I hope you all enjoyed your weekend.  It was a little damp here in North Carolina, so I was able to catch up on some things around the house.  Always a good time, huh?

I have decided to bring you my Weekly PINspirations every Monday.  These will be what I have found in the past or recently on my favorite source of social media, Pinterest, that have inspired me.  I will try to show you something in each of the following categories: Something to Organize, Something to Make, Something to Clean, Something to Eat, Something to Wear and Something to Live By.

I will also be taking one of my PINspirations and showing you how I have made it my own.  The reveal will most likely be the Wednesday after the PINspiration is posted, however, it may be sooner.  You will just have to check back often to see. *wink wink*

This week's PINspirations are (drum roll please...):

Something to Organize:  This family command center by One Creative Housewife was the very one that inspired me to make one of my own.  I loved the calendar and white board ideas as well as the different cubbies for each child's paperwork, mail and other documents.  I also loved the initial for the last name (this is cut off in my pic).  It is a family command center after all.

Something to Make:  My poor fur babies desperately need a new bed!  They share one, which is super cute, but it wasn't always that way.  We bought the bed for Zeek because Yogi was crate trained.  When we did away with the crate, Yogi decided he would room with Zeek.  The bed is too small for them and is totally dilapidated.  This one is made of pallets and it just so happens I have a few left over in my garage...hence the PINspiration for a DIY project idea.

Something to Clean:  Toilet Fizzies are sort of a twist between something to make and something to clean.  I found these while just surfing through Pinterest trying to find homemade cleaners.  You are supposed to be able to drop these in the toilet (after flushing) and leave them to make your toilet smell fresh.  Sure beats lighting matches!  I'm definitely going to try this one!

Something to Wear:  Snow is thawing and Spring is coming!  This coming week we are supposed to see lower to mid 70's where I am.  Can we say YAY!!!!  To me that is still not shorts weather, but I will definitely be breaking out the capri pants.  I don't get to display my style often or even think about it too hard with the kids, the Hubs, and all of our activities, but I still like to try.  It makes me feel human, girly, and like I am 22 again!  This outfit is just the right style for this Momma on the go in this week's weather forecast.  I love the coral and grey for the spring and the pairing of the scarf and flip flops.  I can't wait to try this one on for size!

Something to Eat:  Swimsuit season is just around the corner and I am trying to watch what I eat, but a salad just isn't the same without ranch dressing.  This is a ranch dressing recipe made with plain Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise.  I haven't tried it yet, but I will be sure to let you know when I do.  If you have tried this, let me know if you liked it!

Something to Live By:  We all have our reasons for getting fit, staying fit or losing the winter jiggle.  I just thought this quote was a funny, but true one to live by.  Even if your first source of motivation is not for everyone to think you look great, it surely is a perk!  We all like a compliment once in a while.  I hope you think of this little quote while you are struggling to breath on the elliptical this week.  I know I will!

If you would like to see the original pins in this week's PINspirations, visit my Pinterest page and look under PINspirations.  Also, be sure to check back later this week to see which PINspiration(s) I have tried.  I hope you all have a fabulous week!

IT'S FRIDAY! Do the Friday dance everybody!  Shake it...I know you can.  I am so glad it is Friday.  It has been one crazy week setting up this blog and also trying to get my daily stuff done as well as actually work at work!

Because this is my first real Friday as a blogger, I thought I would use this opportunity to share my TOP 5 BLOGGER WISHLIST ITEMS! (read that in your best "Wheel of Fortune" announcer voice)  See makes a difference!

Although all obtainable, some of these items are easier to come by than others.  Hopefully The Hubs will read my post and get the hint!  Here we go...

Number One:  This baby here is a Mac Book Air.  Although I am pretty sure this one is closer to the unattainable list, I still want one.  I would even settle for a Mac Book Pro or any other sleek, wonderful, fast and fresh laptop to work on.  Isn't she a beauty!  I can already see myself with a cup of Starbucks Pike Place and my little beauty blogging into the sunset.  Ha!

Number Two:  A blog planner.  I know there are a ton of ways to plan your blog posts, but when looking for one for myself on Pinterest, I came across this colorful planner.  This planner features a year at a glace page at the front, a section for givaways & reviews and blog advertising, and then gives you a monthly planner with extra info pages.  It is a free printable and can be printed front and back then bound to make a perfect little addition to your blog organization!  Check out the 2014 Blog Planner Here.

Number Three:  Well this one is pretty self explanatory...I would love to have my blog name in lights!  I want to make sure I am going to have people reading and enjoying my content before I dive into this one, but I see it coming in the near future (positive vibes).  Which brings me to the next wishlist item...

Number Four:  This one refers to you!  Followers!!  I want tons and tons of love and support, so please follow, follow, follow, follow me and the yellow brick road!  Tell your friends, family, neighbor, that random guy in the grocery store that stalks you in the produce section.  Ok, maybe not him, but you get the point!  I love sharing my thoughts and projects and fun with people, so follow!

Number Five:  Last, but not least, Blogging Tips.  I put this on my wishlist because I am new and I have lots of room for improvement.  Please share your blogging tips with me.  If you see something I am not doing or doing wrong, please share.  I will gladly accept the criticism!  Also, you can share some nice things too...always here for a confidence booster.

Well friends, there are my Top 5 Blogger Wishlist Items.  I hope you enjoyed and would love to help me mark some of them off.  If anyone wants to donate a new Mac Book Air, you can contact me below and I will gladly send you my address.  I'm kidding!

Happy Friday Ya'll!

I believe a sunrise is God's gift to us saying, "Welcome to one more day."  As everyone knows, we are not always promised another day.  It is truely a gift!  I am a sucker for a sunrise...I am up very early every morning driving to work and get to see them often.  The colors are magestic and never the same twice.  I think they are the best wake up gift that a girl (or guy) could ever have.  Enjoy them, take them in, think for a minute how glad you are to be alive and thank God for his gift!

This was an accidental sunset that The Hubs and I were able to witness on the way back home from Destin, FL.  We had taken a wrong turn down some back road in Alabama and thankfully so.  If not, we would missed this amazing sight and would have been on a crowded interstate going 75 mph.

This one is obviously on the drive into work.  I was being careful...see how far I am from the truck in front of me?  Don't Judge Me...just enjoy the beautiful sunrise.  It was too good to pass up.

I am just as much a sucker for a sunset.  Here on the East Coast we don't get to see them very often over water like we do the sunrise, but I have caught my fair share when on vacation.  They are the most relaxing, perfect and beautiful way to end a day.  Don't cha think?

This one was caught on the harbor in Destin, FL.

Here is one from our honeymoon in Aruba.  I believe it was my first real sunset over the ocean!  Looks like something out of a magazine doesn't it.  I promise, I took this pic.

And last, but not least...this sunset is on Lake Keowee in good old South Carolina.  I grew up on this lake and spend every summer there.  I love the mountains in the background!

Happy Thursday Everyone!  I hope you were able to see a beautiful sunrise today and if not, I hope you can catch a sunset.

I am absolutely in love with cast iron.  It is my new kitchen crush.  My mom has used it forever, her mom used it forever, her mom's mom used it forever...why am I just finding it now?  We I knew about it, but never knew how AWESOME it was.

I started watching The Pioneer Woman on Food TV with Miss Priss (who is completely entranced by her) and learned all of the uses of cast iron.  We also use it when we go camping to cook over the fire...

While taking a much needed "sick day" with the Hubs, we dropped the kids off at school and headed over to our favorite thrifty place...Goodwill!  The Hubs scored this Lodge cast iron pot for $7.99.  Can we say WOW!!!  It retails for $50.00.  To top it off it was in perfect condition!

I know the guy in the background is thinking, "dang, I wish I would have found that first."  Well sorry buddy cause this baby is going home with us!

I have made tons of things in this pot including spaghetti sauce, cheeseburger soup and on our big snow day I made a delicious pot of chili!  I don't have a recipe to share right now, mainly because I just dump things in the pot and let them simmer, but next time I will be sure to share!

The cast iron holds the flavors of what you cook in it so foods just get better and better as you cook in it.  It is also super easy to clean.  You just rinse it out and wipe with a wet cloth then rub it down with a bit of oil and a paper towel and store.  Be sure to not use soapy water, it will make the pot/pan rust.  I learned that the hard way.

Anyone else out there love cast iron like I do?  Please share some new cast iron recipes, I would love to try some!

I thought for my first post, I should share some of my loves and goes nothin'!

~ if you haven't already noticed, my favorite color is pink.  Not light pink, but bright, hot, shine in your face PINK!

~ i love the Spring and Fall.  Fall is my total favorite, but all of the pretty flowers, the thaw out of winter, the birds chirping as I wake in the a.m. and all the fun new outdoor activities of the Spring make it a close second.

~ i am a die hard football lover!  Clemson Tigers are my team.  Although I was not born in SC and did not go to Clemson University, my blood still runs orange. GO TIGERS!

~ i love to travel, but am terrified of flying.  It is a control issue!

~ i hate sleeping in socks.

~ i am a beer snob.  It hasn't always been this way.  I started out as a cocktail only girl then college taught me that my champagne taste wasn't going to last on the beer budget I I drank Miller Lite!  Ha...little did I know that there were far better real beers in this world.  I now like to try new craft beers from all over and have even started liking the dark ones...

~ i love a good glass of red wine on a cold winter night by my fire place.  Nothin' like it.

~ Starbucks is my friend!

~ the first thing I do in the morning in brush my teeth!

Anyone have any suggestions on good beer, wine or Starbucks drinks I should try?  How about some Tiger fans?
